
DSI was responsible for this project’s hygienic piping for the central utility building, spine, building, alcohol recovery yard and the new plasma fractionation facility. The new plasma fractionation facility brings additional capacity for testing, purification and fill and finish for its biologic medications, including immunoglobulin therapy for patients with immune deficiencies and albumin products. These products are primarily used as plasma-volume replacement therapy in critical care, trauma and burn patients. The project was projected to create a total of 1,500 full-time positions in Georgia and more than 2,000 jobs in total across multiple U.S. locations.
From the beginning, DSI contributed design assist and then took the model from the initial design to the final, fully coordinated model. DSI led the BIM effort for all trades on the project and used a cloud-based modeling software to minimize the time required to complete the coordination effort. The project encompassed a large greenfield site in a location of the country where the local labor force was not adept at hygienic piping installation. We trained local welders to understand the specifics of orbital welding and BPE standards.
