Evergreen Solar’s facility in Devens, Mass., was their first large-scale manufacturing plant in the U.S. able to produce 80 megawatts. For the first phase, DSI’s scope included process piping, chemical distribution and tool hook-up. The project schedule was extremely aggressive, and DSI was brought on board prior to design being complete, which allowed us to coordinate and install 75,000 feet of piping in six months.
Phase 2 of Evergreen Solar included a plant expansion of an additional 140,000 square feet and the ability to produce a total of 160 megawatts. Again, DSI’s scope included process piping, chemical distribution and tool hook-up. As in Phase 1, the project schedule was extremely aggressive and DSI again took a lead role in coordination efforts so that the project met or exceeded all milestone dates.
